Yes, the donations are tax deductible. Kamloops Islamic Association is registered as a charity under the CRA since 2003. #889427001 RR 0001. Please note: Tax deductible receipts for this year will be provided February next year (2025).
Our association works closely with humanitarian and relief organizations to provide aid. We actively support RIH, The Mustard Seed, Ask Wellness, and many more! We have provided thousands of hot meals and tens of thousands of dollars worth of supplies to evacuees and refugees.
The current location in Knutsford poses accessibility challenges, lacks municipal services such as water, sewage, and transit, and limits our ability to expand and offer diverse programs. Relocation within the city limits aims to address these issues and enhance community services.
We succesfully raised our limit of $100,000 through Islamic Relief's 50% dollar matching program, Alhamdulillah.
There is no minimum donation amount. Every contribution is appreciated.
The decision to relocate the mosque within the city limits is prompted by accessibility challenges at the current Knutsford location, posing difficulties for community members and TRU students, including healthcare professionals. The existing facility's limited capacity not only hinders the provision of on-site programs but also forces important events, including religious services, to be held off-site, even in the parking lot. This lack of capacity has contributed to the departure of healthcare professionals from Kamloops, exacerbating the city's existing challenges in attracting and retaining such professionals. The relocation aims to address these issues by offering convenient access for healthcare professionals and community members, fostering an environment conducive to attracting and retaining professionals and providing expanded capacity for a broader range of community services, including emergency relief efforts and collaborative initiatives with local non-profit organizations.
Once Phase 1, which is inital land acquisition is complete. We will begin the process of additonal land acquisition from the city, rezoning, design, and construction.
Though our orignal deadline was February 29th, the sellers have been gracious and agreed to extend subject removal to April 15th and the closing date to May 10th.
